Liliia Shevchenko – Paralegal

I am a full time Paralegal based at Nexa HQ with access to LEAP, files held at HQ, LawY, Practical Law and Westlaw.

I am from the Ukraine with proficient English and interpreting and translating experience. Since graduating in 2019 with a Masters in International Business (confirmed by UK ENIC) I have been working in administration and PR in government departments in my hometown of Sumy, north-east Ukraine.

I am a quick learner, diligent, inquisitive, adaptable and ambitious. I have resided in England since May 2022 and worked in the Civil and Family Courts in Liverpool liaising with administrative court staff to ensure the smooth flow of court work and cooperation with lay clients and their legal representatives.

My responsibilities included preparing for court hearings and completing the relevant documentation. In addition, I looked after the Court electronic diary for checking, listing or editing hearings when required.

I then started work as a Paralegal at BDH Solicitors in Birkenhead, my role there ensured timescales were being adhered to, chasing up documents when overdue and reporting to the Court when there is slippage in timetables.

I recently completed my Paralegal Apprenticeship with Distinction in October 2025 and I am now starting the Level 7 Chartered Legal Executive Litigator and Advocate Apprenticeship.

I speak native Ukrainian, fluent Russian, proficient English and basic German and Italian.

My legal experience so far includes the following:
Family (Childcare) law:
a) Carrying out conflict checks and the initial set up of client files in Leap
b) Working via the HMCTS portal – allocation to the matter, add/remove/download documents, lodging Court Applications, statements or expert reports;

• Position Statements on behalf of professional Guardians
• Notices of Acting / Notices of Issue
• Locating relevant Case Law as and when required.
e) Attending upon Counsel to Court; Conferences and Advocates’ Meetings when appropriate, and meeting with a Child and the Judge.
